Producer, DJ, netlabel activitst, sound designer & designer, software & game developer... It's not easy to sum up what makes Ronny Pries tick.

"It somehow started with that radio/tape recorder my parents gave me as present for my 7th birthday. What an awesome device - I could tune through the bands for hours and discover all kinds of music, noises, languages..."

Further big impacts on his taste in music came from Italo-Disco & Acid-House, c64 & Amiga games as well as the demoscene. After making friends with one of Germany's early birds in the techno movement, Sren Schnakenberg, he became familiar with professional music production technology. Known as "Snitzer & McCoy" the duo released a number of 12" on Uptide and Hamburgs renown Superstition Records.

His netlabels .schleudertrauma & _rohformat became the first stop for quality techno and influenced a generation of netlabels to come (i.e. Thinner as it is known). Ronny also worked as a sound designer for a game developer, formed the demogroup Farbrausch, supplied demomixes for Native Instruments' Traktor DJ software and took part in developing AudioRealism's famous Bass Line VST synthesizer.

Originally formed as a project for Thinner, rktic has become his moniker for cold, deep, dubtechno.
